Q&A: How to make melting chocolate (like the chocolate chips) out of cocoa powder?

Question by Lorie: How to make melting chocolate (like the chocolate chips) out of cocoa powder?
I am trying to figure out how to use cocoa powder to make a meltable chocolate. Like the kind you melt the chocolate chip to make chocolate covered pretzels or cherries etc.

Answer by karat4top
I don’t think you can make that kind of chocolate from cocoa. I can’t get to my substitution information at the moment, but I remember in my Betty Crocker Cookbook there was a way to combine cocoa powder with oil and other stuff to make a similar consistency to melted chocolate of some type. Perhaps check the Betty Crocker site for substitutions? I don’t think you can get it to a consistency to dip anything in, because then it wouldn’t harden.

Where can I find cocoa butter for chocolate making?

Question by Lillybell: Where can I find cocoa butter for chocolate making?
I’m taking a chocolate making course, and it calls for cocoa butter for the enrobing part (like dipping). It said cocoa butter was made from the fat part of the cocoa bean, or something, and is expensive, but I can’t find anywhere that sells it.

Assuming you are in the UK, you could e-mail somebody like Pembertons (see link) and see if they can either sell you some or let you know who their supplier is.

How to Make Chocolate Milk Using Cocoa Powder

Who doesn’t love chocolate milk? A refreshing drink to cool you off in the summer. Whether it’s after school or after dinner. Everyone knows that milk is a good way to get your nutrients, but what about those fussy children? How about chocolate milk? Pre made chocolate milk and and chocolate syrup can be unhealthy and full of empty calories.  How about using cocoa powder to make your chocolate milk instead? Cocoa powder is all natural and has been around for a long time.  So instead of using syrup to make your chocolate milk, try cocoa powder instead.

The most common way to make chocolate milk is with syrup. .

What You Will Need:
1 tbsp. Cocoa powder
2 tbsp. Sugar
Milk
Glass
Spoon

Step 1: For the best results use a tall glass. Once you have your glass picked out, add 2 tbsp. sugar into the glass.

Step 2: Add 1 tbsp. all natural cocoa powder into the glass (I like to add the sugar first so that no cocoa powder gets into the sugar bag).

Step 3: Add just enough milk to wet the ingredients. Using a spoon, mix the contents into a paste.
Step 4: Fill the cup the rest of the way with milk. Stir thoroughly, making sure to scrape the bottom and the sides of the glass. There will be some left over cocoa floating on the surface the chocolate milk (don’t worry, this is supposed to happen), scrape it off.

Castor sugar 2 cups
cocoa powder cup
baking powder 2 tsp
salt 1 tsp
vegetable oil cup
vanilla essence 1 tsp
vinegar 2 tsp
Cold water – 2 cups
**************************************
For the topping:
Thick cream – 2 cups
Semi-sweet cooking chocolate (chopped) – 2 cup
How to make it

In a large mixing bowl, sift together all the dry ingredients.
Now to this mixture of dry ingredients add the oil and mix thoroughly.
Add the essence and vinegar. Mix well
Add cold water gradually stirring continuously.
Now pour the mix into a greased 9 x 13 inch cake pan.
Bake at 180C for 35-40 minutes or until done.
While the cake cools completely you can prepare the topping for the cake.
For the topping, in a saucepan, heat the cream on medium heat. Do not allow it to boil.
Now add the chocolate pieces and mix thoroughly till you get a uniform mixture of cream and chocolate. Pull off the stove.
Once the cake has cooled completely cover it completely with the topping.
Save a quarter of the topping mixture and put it in a piping cone. With the help of the piping cone, decorate the cake with the design of your choice such as flowers or any random design

Chocolate Chip Pancake Help?!?!?

Brandon Asked: Chocolate Chip Pancake Help?!?!?

Tomorrow is the day of my brother’s final and I was going to get up early and surprise him by making him breakfast. I am just going to make chocolate chip pancakes from the box but if I wanted to just make chocolate chocolate chip pancakes how would I go about doing this? I don’t have any cocoa powder so could I maybe add chocolate syrup and mix it directly into the batter? I need it within 11 hours so thanks!

Answers:

Sandy K Answered:
You add chocolate chips, I don’t think chocolate syrup will add taste to the pancakes.

RoyS Answered:
You can add a bit of chocolate syrup to the mix, and add chocolate chips. If the batter seems too runny, add more flour/pancake mix.
